Bucklebury Farm Park
This working farm based in the depths of Berkshire is every child’s delight. They have all the usual farm animals but what we find the children love is the fact that you can stroke some of the small animals. The staff are very friendly and the children really warm to them. Upon our last visit the children were allowed to feed milk to the lambs which was definitely the highlight. The stable areas are immaculately kept and it is obvious that the animals are happy and very well looked after. There are often tractors parked around which fascinates our two children.
You can walk right up to the top of quite a large hill which is a trek with a buggy so perhaps leave your buggy at the bottom. The views from the top of the hill are beautiful although no peeking into the Middleton’s back garden! Our son loves the red bus which has been turned into a ball pit with a slide, this is small but the little ones enjoy it. Throughout the day they offer tractor rides out into the countryside so you can see and feed the deer. This takes approximately 30-40 minutes, there is no additional charge and it is great fun. Watching our two little ones giving food to the deer really is a pleasure to watch, they are so happy and laugh a lot when the deer try to lick their hands with their huge tongues.
There is a huge sandpit for them to play in as well as a great play area with very old tractors to climb on, swings and slides. Building Dens, Nature Trails, and if you fancy a jump there are huge bouncy pillows, although we feel our two little ones are too small for these at the moment. If all the above is not enough there are three indoor slides, which combined with the red bus gives your little ones plenty to do on a rainy day. There is a café which serves locally produced delicious food, tasty coffee and homemade cakes. We normally take a picnic and take advantage of their picnic area either inside or outside weather depending. We have been there when they have carried out themed events like A Teddy Bear’s Picnic where they had people dressed as Bears and other activities. All in all a great day out with free parking too.
